Is GLP-1 therapy recommended during breastfeeding?

GLP-1 medications are not recommended during breastfeeding.

At Alloy, your safety and your baby’s safety are our top priorities. While there is limited data in breastfeeding women, current guidance is to avoid GLP-1 therapy if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

In this discussion with Dr. Rocio Salas-Whalen, she explains that although the GLP-1 molecule is large and would likely be broken down in a baby’s digestive system, there is not enough research to confirm safety, so it is not recommended: ▶️ Watch the GLP-1 Use While Breastfeeding chapter here: Menopause & Weight Gain | Dr. Rocio Salas-Whalen - GLP-1 Use While Breastfeeding
