How do you gauge the right amount of moisturizer for a morning routine?
Finding the right amount of moisturizer in the morning is really about watching how your skin responds rather than sticking to a strict rule. Here at Alloy, we usually recommend thinking of moisturizer as the last step in your AM routine, after serums and any treatment products.
A good way to gauge the amount is to start small, about the size of a pea, and see how easily it spreads over your face and neck. If it disappears instantly and your skin still feels tight or looks dull, add a little more. If it sits on top of your skin and takes forever to sink in, you’ve probably used too much. Your skin should feel comfortably hydrated, not greasy.
If you’re using one of our M4 products in the morning, like the M4 Face Serum Rx or M4 Face Cream Rx, those can act as part of your moisturizing step. Dr. Gandhi shows a nice example of a simple morning routine including an Alloy serum in this chapter of her video: Morning skincare routine.
If you want more guidance on how moisturizer fits into layering, our guide on adding M4 to your routine breaks it down in a really approachable way: How to layer skincare.
