Which areas can be treated and how much should be used?

For vaginal estrogen cream, the areas discussed here at Alloy are the vagina itself, the vaginal opening, the labia minora, and around the clitoris. Dr. Kelly Casperson also notes that you can use a little of the leftover cream on sensitive tissue at the back part of the vaginal opening, since that area can be prone to irritation and pain with sex.

On how much to use, the material I have doesn’t give an exact measured amount of cream. It does mention practical dosing advice around remembering twice weekly use, but your exact dose should follow your prescription. If your current amount or product doesn’t seem right, your Alloy clinician can review it and adjust it through your treatment plan.

If you want a quick visual on where to apply it, this short chapter is helpful: How to apply vaginal estrogen, targeting sensitive areas. For the dosing routine piece, this chapter covers the twice weekly reminder advice: How much vaginal estrogen should you use, practical dosing advice.
