Why might a single-active estriol cream be better tolerated than multi-active estrogen creams on the neck?
A single active estriol cream can feel easier on the neck because the neck is one of the most sensitive areas of the body. The skin there is thinner, has fewer oil glands, and gets irritated easily when too many actives are layered together. When you keep the formula simple, the skin has less to react to.
Estriol itself is also a gentler form of estrogen. Here at Alloy, we use estriol in all of our M4 skincare because it works beautifully on the skin without being as strong or stimulating as estradiol. Dr. Ellen Gendler talks about this in our webinar, explaining that estriol is effective for collagen, hydration, and elasticity but less aggressive on the skin. And one of our customers described almost exactly this experience in a YouTube chapter where she said the single active estriol cream worked better on her neck because the multi active formulas she tried before were simply too much for that delicate area. If you want to hear her describe it, you can watch that clip here: personal experience.
If you want to explore a gentle estriol option, our prescription M4 Face Cream Rx has just estriol plus hydrating ingredients like glycerin and vitamin E. You can take a look at it here: M4 Face Cream Rx.
