Can breast cancer survivors use topical estrogen face creams?
Yes, breast cancer survivors can use topical estrogen face creams, including estriol based options like our M4. Here at Alloy we spend a lot of time looking at the science around this, because safety really matters, especially for survivors.
The big thing to know is that topical estriol used on the face stays local to the skin. It doesn’t raise systemic estrogen levels. Dr. Corinne Menn actually addressed this very clearly in one of our webinars, and her explanation is reassuring. She talks about how serum levels of estriol and estradiol stayed unchanged through 12 weeks of using M4. You can hear her describe that here, in the chapter called Topical Estrogen After Breast Cancer: watch here.
Estriol is also the gentlest form of estrogen when it comes to breast tissue. It’s much weaker than estradiol in those areas, which is another reason it’s considered safe for breast cancer survivors. And dermatologists and oncologists who understand menopause care are generally comfortable with its use.
Alloy’s M4 Face Cream was designed with all of this in mind. You can read more about it on our product page if you want the details about how it works: M4 Face Cream.
If you prefer to dig deeper into the science behind why topical estrogen stays local, our blog on the subject is also really helpful: The science behind putting estrogen on your face.
So yes, survivors can safely use topical estriol creams on their face.
