How can better hydration reduce the appearance of fine lines and visible pores?
Better hydration helps your skin look smoother because hydrated skin is plumper skin. When your skin has enough water in it, the cells swell slightly and fill out the tiny creases that show up as fine lines. That same plumping effect also makes pores look less noticeable because pores tend to look larger when the surrounding skin is dry and slack.
Hyaluronic acid, which we use in several M4 products here at Alloy, works exactly this way. It acts like a sponge and pulls moisture into the skin, which gives a fresher, dewier look and softens the appearance of dryness related lines. You can see this described in our skincare guide, where hyaluronic acid is highlighted for reducing the look of fine lines that are caused by dehydration.
Keeping your whole body hydrated matters, too. There is a great explanation of this in the hydration chapter of Keri Glassman’s video, where she talks about how proper hydration supports skin health. You can watch it here: Hydration & aging.
If dryness or fine lines are showing up more during perimenopause or menopause, ingredients like estriol and peptides can help your skin hold onto moisture and stimulate collagen. Our M4 skincare line blends estriol with hyaluronic acid to restore skin hydration and firmness. You can explore those options at the Alloy skincare page: Alloy skincare.
