What is it?

Estradiol cream is an FDA-approved, plant-based, bio-identical hormone treatment for the alleviation of genitourinary symptoms (vaginal dryness, itching, burning, painful sex) due to menopause.

Who is it for?

Estradiol Vaginal Cream is recommended for women experiencing vaginal symptoms like dryness, burning, itching, UTIs and painful sex.

How to get it

Prescription required. One of our menopause trained doctors will review your medical history to determine if this is the right treatment for you.

Safety Information

Vaginal Estradiol Cream contains an extremely low dose of estradiol and considered by the North American Menopause Society to be safe for all women. The small amount of estrogen in the vaginal cream is absorbed primarily right in the spot it’s applied. Because so little of the estradiol in the cream gets into the bloodstream, it generally will not treat hot flashes. Topical vaginal estrogen is the better option for women whose symptoms are limited to the vulva, vagina and bladder. After you start using topical estrogen, you can expect to experience the full effect, and the most relief, after 4-6 weeks.

Suggested Use

Vaginal estradiol is FDA-approved to treat vaginal dryness, pain, painful sex, itching and frequent UTIs by rejuvenating the tissue in and around the vagina, increasing moisture and improving elasticity. It also restores the vaginal pH to an optimal level. Because it’s applied locally, the dose of estradiol is less than the pill or patch and does not enter the bloodstream. Therefore, it is not necessary to prescribe progesterone with vaginal estradiol.

Best for treating what symptoms?

Vaginal symptoms in menopause are a direct effect of the lack of estrogen, and usually appear later in women who have not been taking MHT (patch or pill). Good news! Vaginal estradiol cream is 90% effective for vaginal symptoms like dryness, itching, burning, frequent UTIs and painful sex. Most women feel relief within 4-6 weeks of use. Studies have also shown that vaginal estrogen has a positive effect on the health of the vaginal microbiome and the Vaginal Health Index Score.

The estradiol in the products Alloy prescribes is molecularly identical to the estradiol your body produces naturally. In other words it is supplemental to the estrogen already circulating in your bloodstream.

The estradiol in the generic products Alloy’s doctors prescribe is formulated from yams— yes, sweet potatoes! And no animal products are used in any of the products Alloy sells.
