## Who should avoid GLP-1 injectables?

At Alloy, safety is always our top priority. While most people are good candidates for GLP-1 medications, there are certain situations where they should be avoided.

### You should not take GLP-1 injectables if you:

- Have a **history of allergic reactions** to the medication
- Are **pregnant or breastfeeding**
- Have **low blood sugar** or a history of significant hypoglycemia
- Have a **personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer**
- Have a **personal or family history of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Syndrome Type 2**
- Have a **history of pancreatitis**

In our recent Weight Care in Midlife discussion, Dr. Corinne Menn also shared that there are very few true contraindications, but certain rare medical conditions such as significant kidney disease or inappropriate body weight for treatment would require careful evaluation.
