### How adding menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) might change expectations

MHT isn’t considered a weight-loss medication on its own, but it can help with fat distribution and with menopause symptoms like hot flashes and sleep disruption, which can make weight management harder.

When MHT is combined with semaglutide, an early study in *Menopause* found that women on **both MHT and semaglutide lost about 30% more weight at 12 months** than women on semaglutide who weren’t using hormone therapy. So if you’re someone who’s a good candidate for MHT, adding it could mean your results on semaglutide may be better than you’d expect from semaglutide alone.
